Frequent Asked Questions
What kind of things do you design? - Designs are primarily for book covers, cover art and all the things related to it. However, I can provide design services for any product. Drop me an email and we can discuss more about the other design services I offer.
How do I book with you and how does it work? - Slot booking is on a weekly basis. This is to allow us to work closely and be thorough with the project. To avoid delays that may impact commitments with other clients, projects are completed within the designated week.
Does every project require a slot? - Slots are only required for book cover projects. Subject to schedule availability, other design services do not require prior booking. It is best to contact me to discuss your requirements.
I want to book a slot with you but I’m not 100% sure. Are you going to accept my booking? - To ensure a smooth working relationship and prevent any inconvenience, it is encouraged to book your slot only when you are all set and decided. A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your slot.
How long does it take for you to design something? - Average lead time for the design process is about 2-3 days. As mentioned, slots are given weekly so it is ensured that project is completed within this time.
When should I expect to receive the initial draft? - Initial draft is provided either by Monday or Tuesday of the week booked. If there are additional discussions between the artist and the client, draft is sent on a later day of the week.
Do you work during weekends? - As work-life balance is important to me, I refrain from working during weekends. In case of planned vacations, announcement is posted on my social media accounts ahead of time.
What is the mode of payment? - Payments are accepted only via Paypal.
Are the photos included on the price? - Price is inclusive of the photos, as long as they are from Depositphotos. Additional charges are applicable should you prefer using a photo from a different website.
How many revisions can you make? - As my goal is to provide clients with covers that best fit their books, revisions are unlimited as long as they are only minimal changes and it’s the same design. Changing of the photo, background, or the overall design isn't included.
Can I get the PSD file from you? - To preserve the quality of the artist's work, clients are not provided with the PSD file or any kinds of editable file of the project.
In what format will I be receiving the files? - Files are generally in JPG format. Other formats such as PNG and PDF are available depending on the client's requirements.
Do you offer printed products? - Printed copies are not available due to shipping and logistics limitations.
What if I don't have any idea how I want my book cover to look like? Is it still possible for you to make one for me? - Yes, we can come up with a cover with a little help from the author. I could help with a couple of ideas based on the details that the author can provide.
What if I don’t want to use a stock photo, are you going to be the one to look for a non-stock photo for me? - Yes, I could help in finding a non-stock photo for you or refer you to some great photographers that I had the honor of working with. As authors are more familiar with the characters, I encourage clients to be more involved in finding the perfect photo that will best fit their book.
Do you design logos and brandings? - Yes, I do. If you wish to see the sample works, it's available in the portfolio section.
About your pre-made covers, what if I want to change something. Can I do that? - No. All pre-made covers are ready-made covers. However, only if and when possible, you want changes on the cover, additional charges will be applied.
Do you do cover reveals too? - Yes. All covers designed by CT Cover Creations have their own cover reveal and book release posts. To help with the author's promotional campaign, covers are also posted on the website and social media accounts.
What is included in the services that you provide? - All services comes with a Standard Commercial License that covers unlimited quantity of copies or display for electronic use and a maximum of 500,000 for printed copies. If the requirement of your project is beyond those numbers, purchasing the Extended License is advised. For a more detailed explanation of both licenses, please refer to Depositphotos.
A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to book your slot.
ALL PayPal fees (5%) are to be shouldered by the client.
Listing me (Clarise Tan) as your illustrator on Amazon once you’ve published your book is highly appreciated.
HD files are considered final. Once emailed to the client, any further revisions will be subject to additional charges.
PSD files or any kinds of editable files of the project are not provided by the artist nor is it included in the services you paid for.
For unused designs, such as previous drafts, are deleted once the design has been finalized.
Clients may use more than one photo. However, CT Cover Creations reserves the right for the unused stock photos. It may be utilized for other products including book covers.
CT Cover Creations also retains the right to display the cover design on its website, Facebook, and other platforms for promotional and testimonial purposes only.
Due to time zone differences, inquiries are relatively answered by the next day.
All work conversations between the client and the artist are done via email only.
All photos used in book covers are chosen by the clients themselves. My only role is to use my creativity in turning it into a professional-looking book cover that would best fit your work. As the cover designer, I'd be more than happy to share my input and suggestions but the final outcome is still based on the client's requirements.
All photos and details that will be used on your project must be emailed the weekend before your scheduled week to avoid any delays in the completion of the project.
Print versions such as the paperback and hardcover are only formatted once. Once you've given the print details, it's considered final. Reformatting of the print versions of your book is possible with additional charges.
CT Cover Creations/Clarise Tan is an independent designer. It is no way associated with any designing companies, publishing companies, or any other companies.
CONFIRMATION IS VERY IMPORTANT. Without a confirmation from the client regarding the final design, no final files will be sent. Likewise with your slot. If you don't receive a booking confirmation from the designer also means that your slot is not confirmed.
REMEMBER THE DATE OF YOUR SCHEDULE. Once you've secured your slot, you're given your scheduled week. You will receive a reminder regarding your slot the weekend before the said week. If you missed it and fail to give notice prior or during the said week, your slot is considered cancelled. The 50% deposit you made will not be refunded too.
CT Cover Creations is usually booked up to 1-2 months in advance. Please take that into consideration before inquiring as I wouldn't want to cause any delays or inconveniences on your side.
PLEASE BE CLEAR ABOUT WHAT YOU WANT. The artist highly encourages the clients to be sure of their requirements as it will be easier to work if an idea is already in place. Designs are very tedious and will require a great deal of time and effort. In order for a project to be smooth from start to finish, it is ideal for clients to at least have a vision of a cover that they like. Once the client has provided the project's requirements, if and when in the middle of designing, they decided they wanted a different design than their initial requirement, the new design would then be counted as a totally new project.
DIFFERENT TIME ZONES. CT Cover Creations isn't from the US or the UK so please keep in mind that working with the artist also means that you're open to working with someone from a different time zone. If this could pose as an issue for you, CT Cover Creations won't be accepting your project.
Please remember that stock photos may be used on other covers or designed products. Clients only purchase the license to use these photos but do not own its exclusive rights. However, this isn't the case for custom photos depending on the license you purchased from the photographer.
Every booked project will be finished is one (1) week unless stated otherwise. However, the response time of the client during this period may also contribute to the swift completion or delay on the project.
Kindly refrain from sending inquiries during the weekend as I do not work during this time.
Once the final HD files have been emailed, the artist would greatly appreciate a testimonial that the artist may share on their website.
